Rooted in care, shaped by experience

Mahkota was founded on a straightforward belief: families navigating legal matters deserve steady, respectful support — not just efficient processing.

Our Story

How Mahkota came to be

Mahkota opened its doors in Kuala Lumpur with a specific focus: family law, handled with the care it deserves. The founding partners had spent years in larger practices observing how families — often already under strain — were moved through legal processes without enough patience or plain-language guidance. That observation shaped everything about how Mahkota works.

From our offices at Menara Maxis, Jalan Ampang, we serve clients from across the Klang Valley and beyond. Our work spans civil family proceedings and Syariah matters, including hadhanah and nafkah considerations — areas that require not only legal knowledge but cultural attentiveness.

We keep our practice focused deliberately. A smaller, dedicated team means each client receives consistent attention rather than being passed between hands. We take the time to explain, to listen, and to make sure you feel informed before any decision is made.

Our Mission

To provide clear, considered legal support to families in Malaysia — making a difficult period more navigable through knowledge, patience, and honest counsel.

Our Values

Discretion, clarity, and respect for the pace of each client. We do not push decisions; we create the conditions for good ones.

Our Focus

Exclusively family law — civil and Syariah. This narrow focus means our knowledge in this area runs deep, not wide.

Family law in Malaysia — what shapes our work

Family law in Malaysia operates across two distinct legal systems: the civil courts under statutes such as the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976, and the Syariah courts governed by state enactments applicable to Muslims. Navigating either framework requires more than general legal knowledge — it requires familiarity with local court practice, judicial temperament, and the documentation conventions that vary by jurisdiction and faith community.

At Mahkota, our work is shaped by the reality that each family matter is, at its core, about people — not only legal instruments. A parenting arrangement that looks tidy on paper may carry emotional weight for years. A maintenance agreement drafted too quickly may cause friction long after the initial settlement. We factor in these dimensions when advising, not because it makes the work easier, but because it produces outcomes that hold.

Our location in central Kuala Lumpur — Level 14, Menara Maxis, Jalan Ampang — places us within reach of Klang Valley residents and accessible to those travelling from surrounding states. We receive clients by appointment, and where circumstances make in-person meetings difficult, we can arrange consultations by other means.

Mahkota handles family consultation and mediation, separation and dissolution representation, and comprehensive family matters encompassing custody (hadhanah) and maintenance (nafkah) arrangements. We work with transparency on fees — RM 580 for consultation, RM 1,250 for separation representation, RM 1,920 for the comprehensive package — because clarity on cost is part of treating clients well.
